MY HOT TIPS FOR MILOS - Because Milos is pure magic and I’m still not over it.
SWIM
- Sarakiniko Beach. Looks like the moon, but hotter. White volcanic rock formations that make you feel like you’re on another planet. Utterly surreal.
- Firopotamos Beach. Imagine if a postcard and a Greek god had a baby. Prepare to stay longer than you planned. You’ll fall in love.
- Mandrakia. Possibly the cutest little fishing village on earth. So charming it hurts.
EAT
Non-negotiable: One gyros a day keeps the doctor away.
- O’Hammo’s. A must. Yia Yia’s recipes, menus handwritten with love and custom pottery you’ll want to take home. No bookings, so get there early. We went back twice. That says it all.
- Kivotos ton Gefseon Bakery. Every greek pastry you can imagine. Still dreaming about the galaktoboureko.
- Trapatselis. Local charm, on the water, checkered tablecloths, overflowing bougainvillea. Need I say more?
- Medusa. Order everything. It’s seafood heaven with the views to match.
- Sirocco. Volcanic Restaurant. You choose your own fish and they cook it in geothermal sand. Brilliant.
VISIT
- Hire an ATV and just go! Zip around the island, especially to Klima to see the colourful fishing shacks.
- Boat Cruise around to the Kleftiko caves. Turquoise water like you’ve never seen.
- Watch the sunrise at Sarakiniko - you will not regret it.
STAY in Adamas to be central, Plaka for a traditional Cycladic experience and Apollonia for total peace and quiet.
